Emailing your forgotten password doesn't appear to work.. =x --Uky
- ...I will test. Meanwhile, eek! (post by Peerless at {{{1}}} - see his talk and contribs.) 02:57, February 24, 2006 (EST)
- I can see how that can be confusing. You don't need the w-mail - ONLY put your username in, NOTHING else, THEN hit 'mail me a new password' in the lower left hand corner. Works? (post by Peerless at {{{1}}} - see his talk and contribs.) 02:58, February 24, 2006 (EST)
- I never entered my email... being able to type in what email a password's sent to from the outside would be rather insecure... XD I did have what I thought to be my password typed in when I requested it though if that would affect it for some reason. I just tried it again blank, and nothing.. assuming email doesn't take more than a few minutes to be sent. --Uky
- Interesting - I usually have to wait at least 20 seconds, but this server of xevos sent it LITERALLY the second I pressed the button - I pressed the button and got new mail notif. at the same time! Weird... did you ENTER an e-mail address when you registered? (post by Peerless at {{{1}}} - see his talk and contribs.) 11:55, February 24, 2006 (EST)
- Yeah, I entered an email... I still have the email welcoming me to DDOwiki in my inbox. --Uky
- What email service do you use? I had it send the password reminder to my Yahoo account. Yahoo treated it as spam and it ended up in my bulk folder. --Xevo 13:54, February 24, 2006 (EST)
- I use my ISP's email. It does have a spam filter on it, but all it does is append "***SPAM***" to the emails' titles... they're still sent to my inbox. Hmm, if it works for you I'll try to play around with things then I guess... >_> --Uky
[edit] Ugly boxes
Someone with higher than sysop access needs to fix the background color for the two textareas that pop up for a search that finds no matches. The strings for these start out "No page with that title exists" and "You could also...". You can see this by doing a search on the word 'testing'. Dedridd 12:50, February 27, 2006 (EST)
- Fixed. (post by Peerless at {{{1}}} - see his talk and contribs.) 17:48, February 27, 2006 (EST)
- I'm still seeing the dark blue or black background for these. I even tried flushing my cache. Dedridd 11:49, March 2, 2006 (EST)
- Was changing some things with the way the memcache (our side's cache) works, will all be fixed soon. This is a GOOD thing! (post by Peerless at {{{1}}} - see his talk and contribs.) 12:28, March 2, 2006 (EST)
- Just to keep this updated, this is still an issue. Dedridd 09:02, March 15, 2006 (EST)
- It just needs to be fixed across all the wikis, and I don't have time. For DDOwiki specifically, ask Tihocan to fix them - just change the #333333 to #EEEEEE. (post by Peerless at 11:47, March 15, 2006 (EST) - see his talk and contribs.)
[edit] Redirecting to Category pages
Is this a bug, or user error? With the following links - DDO:Martial Weapons and DDO:Category:Martial weapons - why does the first one not list any items, even though it is just a redirect to the second one? Something like this may have been discussed at some point, but I can't find it and I don't remember the details, so I apologize if this is the case. Dedridd 10:30, March 2, 2006 (EST)
- It has been discussed, just a note or two though, and I haven't had time to check out why yet. I think I know, but I'm not sure. (post by Peerless at 12:25, March 2, 2006 (EST) - see his talk and contribs.)
- FYI for anyone else who's hampered by this bug, I've found a workaround. Just prefix the link in the redirect with the portal abbreviation (ie, [[:DDO:Category:Heavy armor]] instead of just [[:Category:Heavy armor]]), and suddenly the items that belong to the category get listed after the redirect (although the small note at the top that tells you that you've been redirected is missing). I don't know if that'll help you figure out the problem or not Peerless, but it at least gives me/us an alternative in the meantime. Dedridd 13:33, March 6, 2006 (EST)
- Well I have already known what the problem is, and fixing it will be quite annoying. When you simply redirect to a page, the page the USER goes to DOES NOT CHANGE. What the '#Redirect Pagename' does is force the contents of the page to be pulled from the database as if that page were the OTHER page - so although the user is at Pagenameone, he sees the CONTENT for pagename2. The problem is that categorization magick is not a part of the page content, it is a separate operation appended to the normal page content - since the page the user was redirected from was NOT a a category, it doesn't try to pull the magick for the categories. However, a INTERWIKI redirect, like the one suggested, actually acts as an interim page - the user clicks a link from A-->R, and is actually TAKEN to R the redirect page, THEN the browser is told to automatically move on from R-->B, so the user goes from A-->B but with R in the middle. Thus, B is loaded as it's own page, so the categorization magick happens. Using interwiki links locally is in general a bad idea for a number of reasons, but it is an acceptable workaround in this case, I believe. (post by Peerless at 14:13, March 6, 2006 (EST) - see his talk and contribs.)
[edit] Search broken
If you type 'fr' in the search box, it'll take you to an edit screen for the page Fr instead of showing a list of search results for the partial matches. This was first reported by Tihocan at DDO:Talk:Home#Search is broken. Dedridd 12:51, March 23, 2006 (EST)
- Intentional. I'm adding a second box, give me a moment. (post by Peerless at 15:13, March 23, 2006 (EST) - see his talk and contribs.)
[edit] Section editing is broken
Clicking the 'edit' button on a page that has multiple sections will take you to a blank edit screen, instead of populating with the current contents of that section. Dedridd 12:51, March 23, 2006 (EST)
- Fixed. Confirm? (post by Peerless at 15:12, March 23, 2006 (EST) - see his talk and contribs.)
- Confirmed. Dedridd 15:20, March 23, 2006 (EST)
Something's up with the functionality of table of contents on pages. Go to the DDO:Collectible page, and click on House Jorasco in the TOC. The TOC box grows narrower, and you don't go anywhere. Click it a second time, and you'll be taken to that section. Very weird...I can't tell if it only has to do with multi-word links or not. Dedridd 09:14, March 24, 2006 (EST)
- I remember having that happen once. However, I have been unable to reproduce it since, and the page you linked works fine for me. Reload the page and try again (sounds like some game card). (post by Peerless at 09:17, March 24, 2006 (EST) - see his talk and contribs.)
- I first saw it on the DDO:Feat summary page, which also does it. However, after doing a forced-reload of the collectible page using firefox, it's still doing it. I loaded up IE, and it won't even show the TOC on that page. I get a script error message however, saying there's a null object at line 62, which appears to be where the truglass css is applied, along with some "ns-0" class for the main body. (dunno if that would help you debug it or not, that line # could be bogus). Dedridd 09:28, March 24, 2006 (EST)
- Wait you're getting a server error somewhere? That is emergency-level-bad-bad-bad-bad for the database. If something goes wrong with a single page being loaded/dispatched, then our entire count of numerous things goes off, could even mess up a page's history in the database permenantly. If you EVER get a server error (will either appear alone and the rest of the page won't load, or it will appear first, before anything else, even the content actions bar) please please find a way to tell me ASAP! Now, where did you get this? And you are actually able to reproduce the TOC error, strange - where, again? (post by Peerless at 09:32, March 24, 2006 (EST) - see his talk and contribs.)
- No no, not a server error (like a 404). I get the page contents, just no TOC. In IE, when there's a non-fatal script error on a page, you get a little yellow flag in the bottom left of the status bar, along with the words "Error on page". If you dbl click that, it gives a little dialog with some minor debug info about where the error occurred on the page. See the two links in my previous messages for the pages where I'm seeing the TOC errors in firefox. However, I get no TOC on any page on the site under IE, which I think is a more serious error. Dedridd 09:46, March 24, 2006 (EST)
- TOCtest - tell me what you see. Does either TOC appear in IE? (post by Peerless at 09:54, March 24, 2006 (EST) - see his talk and contribs.)
- Both. But you know what? I see other TOC's on enterwiki. Could it be a DDOwiki only problem? -- Bah, I just copied the contents of your TOCTest page over to the sandbox on DDOwiki, and I see them both in IE there, too, although it's still reporting a scripting error. Dedridd 10:06, March 24, 2006 (EST)
[edit] Editing without an account
I came across the WIKI today for the first time, and immediately started editing the sorcerer and wizard spell list to effect some minor issues within (specifically added the 30 DR to resist energy). The problem with this is i did not create an account and did not previously have one. Now that i know this is here, lets get this fixed. --- Matter of fact i edited this still without creating an account. (Zurian Adar server and DDO forum member)
- It's supposed to be that way! Anonymous contributions are one of our greatest assets (-: I still suggest you make an account, but you are in no way obligated to do so. Some of our wiki are closed to anonymous editing, but most (like DDOwiki) are open to editing by anybody who wishes to do so. [e] · t & c 18:44, December 13, 2006 (EST)
