Newbalism

Newbalism is a kind of mostly harmless vandalism committed by newbies - it involves editing a page and replacing the content with profanity or something the vandal thought was funny.

Usually committed by anonymous users, and usually only effected once or twice; three or more times and it is probably legitimate full-fledged vandalism, and should be dealt with as such.

Incidents of newbalism should most likely be reverted then ignored for the first time, there is a good chance that the 'noobalist' was merely seeing if he really could edit pages any way he liked; this is a common side-effect of the enthusiasm expierenced by those recently introduced to the wiki system. After one or two occcurences, however, the perpetrator should be promoted to a full [vandal]] and dealt with as such, starting with a friendly warning (as with any other vandal).
