Sectioning
Hi hi, this is tihocan from the ddo forums ;)
How do we distinguish between DDO-specific and PnP-specific stuff (as there WILL be differences)? Colors? Fonts? Background? Different sections? ...? -- Tihocan
- Ok, thanks :) Somehow in the Wiki I was using, the signature was (more or less) automatically added. Tihocan 09:14, 4 January 2006 (PST)
- Next: Use colons to indent lines. And do you want adminship? Dosen't really mean much, other than that you can ban annoying users (-: -- SilverSide 09:15, 4 January 2006 (PST)
- Aaah now that's cool! Don't really need any admin priviledges for the moment, I'll tell you when I spot an annoying user ;) Tihocan 09:20, 4 January 2006 (PST)
- Nice - now I'm off to start adding some preliminary content! Content > Chatting at this point (Although that won't last for long hehe) -- SilverSide 09:21, 4 January 2006 (PST)
Copyright
Are we allowed to just copy / paste some d20 srd websites? (I guess I should check on the websites myself, but maybe you have the answer already for some of them...) -- Tihocan
- Yes, you are allowed to copy-paste SRD stuff, its under the open gaming license or something like that. And you get to learn your first bit of wiki syntax: sign your talk page posts with four tildes, and it will become a signature like so: -- SilverSide 08:43, 4 January 2006 (PST)
- To come back: I checked the OGL and d20 licenses a bit, it's not as easy as it may seem. There is some stuff that cannot be discussed (e.g. some specific monsters). Also, anything taken from the SRD is supposed to have the license with it ("You MUST include a copy of this License with every copy of the Open Game Content You Distribute"). I'm not an expert lawyer and I certainly do not understand everything. However, it seems to me that it could be simpler and safer to just focus and DDO, and advertise the site as a DDO knowledge base, rather than a generic DnD one (even if we do put some stuff that applies more to PnP and has nothing to really do with DDO). It could be less trouble. What do you think? -- Tihocan 12:44, 4 January 2006 (PST)
- I *really* like the idea of the DND wiki - and I can distribute the OGL with it. Can you get me a copy of the full OGL text? I'll modify the pages, just you watch hehe -- SilverSide 12:58, 4 January 2006 (PST)
- On the note of copyright violations and everything, discuss that here: DNDWiki talk:Copyrights
On the main page, your link to Rules links to a page with title Rule and not Rules. Is that on purpose? -- Tihocan 09:35, 4 January 2006 (PST)
- Well, kind of - that was by accident, but the Rule page needs to be created too - if you think about, and article on "Rule" would be a description of what a rule *IS*, where as "Rules" page would be a comprehensive list of D&D3.5e rules, right? -- SilverSide 09:36, 4 January 2006 (PST)
- Hehe, ok :) -- Tihocan 09:48, 4 January 2006 (PST)
- By the way, I fixed it ;) -- Tihocan 17:02, 4 January 2006 (PST)
- Oppsie! No it was right - needs to link to what a rule is, so people know what they can copy lol -- ℑilver§ℑide 17:03, 4 January 2006 (PST)
- Aaah, I thought it was supposed to be like a homepage for DnD rules... Sorry!

NDA content
Moved to the Talk:Main Page at the protected wiki.
- Ah well I don't have access to that ;) But I read the diffs :P I don't know why your thread was gone, I guess either 1) they didn't like such a public advertisement for a website discussing beta NDA stuff, or 2) someone hijacked the thread and it degenerated to the point it had to be removed (the first reply was not very nice, from someone who thought you were trying to steal beta accounts). Anyway I think it's ok as long as it's not advertised too loudly. -- Tihocan 16:57, January 5, 2006 (PST)
- What? There was a reply? Damn I missed that! -- ℑilver§ℑide 16:59, January 5, 2006 (PST)
- Yeah, something like "I think it's a scam to get hands on beta accounts", or something like that. -- Tihocan 17:11, January 5, 2006 (PST)
- Well that's stupid... how the hell would I get your account? -- ℑilver§ℑide 19:18, January 5, 2006 (PST)
- I think it's because you said that people had to send you an email to prove their beta status, or something like this. Maybe the guy thought you meant people to send beta account details. And yes it's stupid ;) -- Tihocan 07:02, January 6, 2006 (PST)
IM Messenging
You asked about IM messenging. I have a MSN Messenger account: o_____r at hotmail.com.
I'll try to be online every now and then when I'm at home, but usually I'm not there much.
I personally use icq (very sparingly) as 5875504 ArgleBargle
Wiki questions
I saw you made a nice table in the abilities page. Is there a simple way to make such a table, or do you need to type everything yourself? -- Tihocan 09:27, January 5, 2006 (PST)
- Look at my code there... and you can set up a template (like I did for CSS) but templates are not very flexible. -- ℑilver§ℑide 09:55, January 5, 2006 (PST)
- Ok, my question wasn't clear. I was actually wondering if there existed some wizard or graphical table that would have generated your code. But by your answer I guess it's not the case, so I'll do the same. -- Tihocan 09:57, January 5, 2006 (PST)
- Oh no there is no GUI for anything on here. It relly scush to learn all this the first time. Pardon my lispp. -- ℑilver§ℑide 09:59, January 5, 2006 (PST)
wiki help
I added the fighter class, basically a ripoff of arglebargle's barbarian with the necessary modifications and also did the fighter feat list, on the old wiki before it moved. Now they've disappeared. Is it possible to have them reinstated or should I just create them again. -- Pirho420 15:47, January 8, 2006 (PST)
- Nothing I can do (I don't think) - can you re-create easily? -- ℑilver§ℑide 16:25, January 8, 2006 (PST)
- It won't happen again - I should have locked the database before I left, but I couldn't -- ℑilver§ℑide 16:30, January 8, 2006 (PST)
DDOwiki stuff dead?
On ddowiki.net, the links on the left redirect to dndwiki.net.
Also, recent changes redirects to avxworkshop.com, which does not work anymore.
-- Tihocan 17:22, January 8, 2006 (PST)
- Thanks - everything's kind of under-construction lol -- SilverSide 08:04, January 9, 2006 (PST)
- When you have a few minutes, feel free to fix them, it confuses me ;) Also, I can't seem to be able to find some stuff I had put on the previous protected wiki (2 monster profiles, hobgobelin and some other crappy monster). Could it be possible that they have been deleted? -- Tihocan 12:01, January 9, 2006 (PST)
- Yeah, somebody else complained of this - only explanation is that you may have made some changes over at the avxworkshop.com wiki after I had copied the data... as I said, it can't possibly happen again, sad thing is that it did in the first place )-: -- 08:05, January 10, 2006 (PST)
ddowiki.com not working (but .net is working) -- Tihocan 11:57, January 9, 2006 (PST)
- Duh - xevo still hasn't transfered the nameservers (-: -- SilverSide 12:04, January 9, 2006 (PST)
delegation
I was planning on fleshing out the classes one at a time. SHould be faster now as I finally understand how to use tables. Cant we just edit the small stylistic differences out later? -- Pirho420 06:55, January 10, 2006 (PST)
I'll work on the stuff you want. It's very slow going though- I've been working on the bard content for a few days and am not done yet.ArgleBargle
Another division of labor that might make sense is to have one of us keep working on the 3.5 content, and another of us start fleshing in the DDO stuff (although I still don't fully understand the model of integrating the two wikis). Now that the NDA has been lifted, it would be good to start getting good useful content in there for people that want to start using this resource ArgleBargle
- Yes, need DDO content - with my edit rate, I can fill in DNDwiki all by myself, and we may be merging with another d20 wiki, but I *NEED* ddo content. If you are in DDO beta, *PLEASE* drop all this here and go contribute there! Please! Also, sign with a space, two lines, and four tildes like so:
-- ~~~~
- Ok? Thanks! Go contribute at ddowiki! -- ℑilver§ℑide 11:36, January 10, 2006 (PST)
- How should we handle interwiki links? For instance, if we start doing races, it would be handy to reference what we already have in the D&D wiki, and note exceptions that apply to DDO. -- ArgleBargle 11:58, January 10, 2006 (PST)
- Well, the final decision was to keep the two seperate, but to allow interwiki linking - I already set that up. For instance, DND:User:SilverSide from here on Enter makes a live link to my userpage on the DNDwiki, and DDO:User:SilverSide makes a link to my userpage on the DDOwiki. Same applies on DDOwiki, making a link to DND:Cleric would be a live link to the cleric article on DNDwiki (which, by the way, is a red link here because it dosen't exist here; if I were to type DND:Cleric from here it would also link) - make things easy enough for you?
